Our youth gathering meets the second Sunday of

every month during the main gathering. It currently includes

kids from 7th through 9th grade. The format typically

involves a brief time of teaching, some thought-provoking questions, and then a lively adult-led discussion. Everyone is encouraged to participate and to ask questions of their own. Our youth do not meet weekly because we intentionally help them grow into adulthood by having them join the rest of the congregation on the other Sundays of the month.

The youth are also encouraged to serve the church body in practical ways.  They belong to the larger family of God. These young adults are called to interact with other adults as participating members of that larger family (Rom 12; 1Cor 12; Eph 4:14-16).

Some areas of service in which the youth are involved include coffee-bar baristas, Children’s Ministry assistants, nursery assistants, greeters and ushers, worship team members, etc. This draws them into our “body life” rather than secluding them in a separate ministry for youth only. We want them to experience what it is like to be embraced as responsible equals by the older adults whom they may be leading one day.
